Life of a candle
Firstly, because we use a premium Soy/Coconut Wax with no added "yukky" toxic stuff, your candle may sometimes not reset as smooth as others, nor be as white or in our clear containers, there may be some glass adhesion issues or even "frosting". This is the "joy of soy" and will not affect your candle, nor your fragrance experience, in any way at all. If your candle looks a little discoloured at all.....again... won't affect the joy from burning your candle.... it could be the fragrance choice has a Vanilla compound. We choose to use the best Soy Wax possible,(paired with premium Australian made fragrances) even with its lumps and bumps, to give you the best candle burning experience possible.
How to look after that candle
Very important that you allow at least 3- 4 hours on your first burn (or less for smaller containers) to let the wax melt completely and reach the sides of your container. This will give you a "burn memory" so future burns won't tunnel and will help you get the maximum burn from your candles.
Please trim/snip/pinch the tip of your wick BEFORE EACH BURN so its about 5mm long....very important...this too helps to achieve maximum burn time and will help with black soot gathering. (Good tip is to turn candle on its side - over a tissue or bin- and snip/trim very top of wick with sharp scissors - so black bits don't fall back into your candle and easy to discard.) Without doing this you may experience black soot on your containers or large mushrooms forming on the wick and it definately does affect the way the candle will burn.
Always remove any "bits" that may fall into your candle.
PLEASE STOP burning your candle when there is about 2cm of wax left in the bottom of your container, oherwise your jar could overheat and crack/explode!
Best to not burn your candle more than 3 - 4 hours at one time to help give you the maximum life out of your candle and to prevent your jar overheating.
If you think your candle is melting more on one side than the other it could be that it is either in a draught or that the wick has moved slightly. Extinguish your candle carefully and either move it to a different spot (away from the draught) or help your wick to "stand up straight" by using a non flammable object and gently move it at the base to a better upright position, wait til it resets then relight. This will help your candle have an even burn all round. Wicks can be like us, we all need a little help sometimes!! (xo)
Avoid direct sunlight and store your candles, when not in use, with their lids on to prevent any dust.
Always extinguish the candle before you leave the house or retire for the night.
Rather than blow your candle out, its better to use a candle snuffer or a wick dipper, which allows you to bend the wick back into the wax to extinguish it, then straighten it. It is not recommended to blow your candle out as the hot wax may splash up and burn you.
Keep candles away from children and pets, anything flammable and burn your candle on a stable heat resistant surface. Remember not to move your candle whilst its burning and wait until it has cooled and reset before lighting again.
Our containers are made to reuse, but its important not to pour any unwanted wax down your sink as the wax may clog your drains. Melt leftover wax by placing container upside down in WARM oven for few minutes, with something to catch melted wax underneath or stand container in some hot water, then wash in warm soapy water and reuse....enjoy!
We try to choose containers with lids so that they can be reused/recycled with many purposes including in the Pantry, Office, Bedroom, Bathroom, great as Lolly Jar, Jewellery, small change or special posy of flowers or any of the imitation plants that are everywhere at the moment or even as a Special Memories Jar.
